Your Consultation and Interview
Your consultation is a chance for you and your child to interview me and learn about what I offer. It is also an opportunity for me to get to know your child, and your family, as well as interview you all...and of course evaluate (if needed) your piano or keyboard first-hand. I will share personally with you my philosophy of music education and how Suzuki or Traditional music education method can be incorporated into the wholistic educational fabric of your lives on a day-to-day basis.

Ideally your child should prepare two selections on the piano for me to hear; one that is their favorite (and that they feel shows off their talent) and one that they think I will like, or perhaps one they have composed themselves. I can also play something for you! My favorite composers are Mozart, Bach and Chopin!

At your consultation I will work with your child using some time-honored evaluation "games" and interactive techniques which help me learn about your child and how they learn things. We might clap rhythms, sight-read some notes on the page, play some together, improvise, or sing a song!

This is also a time for the parents and I to discuss specifics of dates, times, cost of lessons, practice guidelines, recitals, your child's school requirements/homework, etc.

There are many wonderful and talented music teachers, and finding just the right "personality" is more than half the way toward a postive and successful musical outcome. Please get to know or interview any teacher you are considering for your child before making a committment.
